Father opens with prayer and then touches on a discussion with the students in regards to the saints. This leads to a discussion on the attitudinal changes in the church. After the break Father focuses on the Readings of the day. He addresses how they are foreboding stressing the need to stay centered in God as it was intended that we be.

Today they chat about the need for Catholics to recognize and accept their role in the church beyond attending mass as we are responsible for our church. While Father states that he does not like speaking of money, but we definitely need proper donations to maintain the church, stressing how thankful he is for the generous donors that contribute to the beauty of our church. After the first break Father prays for the deceased as we are in the month of November. Then the group contemplates the question: Can we pray for the Devil? Father ends the show with details and impact of the works of St Frances Xavier Cabrini as today is her feast day.

Welcome to a Brain Wrinkling Wednesday with Fr. Tom Koys. Today Father open with reflection on what has happened over the last week with so much going on in the world. He focuses on speaking about optimism and pessimism in Catholicism. He uses Narnia to help offer insight on how to be optimistic as a Christian in a world in a time when a lot of negative, pessimistic stuff is going on. To be optimistic is not really the virtue of Christian Hope, because Christian Hope includes hope in a power above and beyond us. That’s why we can never deny the cross, never make fun of it as many people are carrying the cross. The spirit of always being upbeat and happy at Catholic mass doesn’t seem to fit because part of the mass is to give us the supernatural hope of God’s ability to conquer the problem and walking with us in our sorrows.

Lauretta hosts the program today with her cohost Joyce Duriga. Lauretta thanks all the Prayer Warriors and adds additional requests for prayer to their list, encouraging everyone to keep on praying! Lauretta and Joyce focus today on physician assisted suicide laws, what it is, how it impacts a state and the culture. They touch on alternatives for caring for the sick. They recognize that life is precious and that the end of life is also an important stage of life stressing that we are not to interfere with God’s plan. She encourages the listeners to call the Governor’s office at 312-814-2121 and tell him to veto the Illinois Physician Assisted Suicide Bill. They close the show talking about what’s reporting in the Chicago Catholic paper and what is going on around the Archdiocese and the Vatican.

Today Father opens the show with a brief intro on the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith to be discussed later as he is currently reviewing it. Father leads us in prayer of the Litany then welcomes Alice Babij (pronounced Bobby) of the St Nicholas Ukrainian Cathedral. She joins Father today to discuss the book “Live & Learn the Liturgical Year Planner 2026. Alice introduces and shares the details of this wonderful resource to help you live the catholic life and maintain your domestic church. Domestic church is basically your home church; this concept, which dates back to the early Church, views the home as the primary place where faith is lived, learned, and passed on through prayer, love, and practice. Today they chat about the beauty of the season of Fall as they talk the impacts of the “fall back” time change. Father Anthony mentions that he is reviewing the document, the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith that addresses some Marian Titles and will be discussing it in future shows. Today he focuses on Jesus’ statement “I am coming soon”. He makes notes of the references in the bible and then unpacks it and chats regarding this with Cristina and Tony.

Today Father Koys continues his discussion from last week regarding the story of Pinocchio, the edition Pinocchio with reflections by Franco Nembrini. Father discusses the story and shares clips from the movie Pinocchio as he refers to the story as a Christian parable. He continues to unpack it for his listeners with reference to history and religion and the moral story imbedded. He encourages us to go back and read the original story of Pinocchio. Father Koys also invites listeners to St. James Parish events on November 21 and 22nd where they will host Zachary King, a High Priest in the Church of Satan in California. Lauretta hosts the program today and offers praises for the film Triumph over Evil and its' producer Oscar Delgado promising to look into “next steps” for the messaging of the film. She calls on all prayer warriors to pray for our Nigerian Christian brothers and sisters that are being persecuted for their faith. She calls on all life supporters to reach out to the Governor to express disagreement over the assisted suicide bill that was passed this morning. After the first break, Lauretta is joined by Lindsay Koff of Sent Global Mission to discuss the devastation of the category 5 hurricane making landfall in Jamaica on October 29th and to share what is needed and how to help.
