Father greets everyone and chats about the end of year activities for the school acknowledging it’s a bittersweet moment given that the school will permanently close at the end of this academic school year. Father leads us in prayer after a short break and then moves on to talk about Pentecost. He references and reads form an article on the topic emphasizing that the Pentecost is the descent of the divine love into obedient hearts allowing the spirit within to take possession of our lives. It descends for the proclamation of God to occur and His word be kept.

Father Koys takes us on another “brain wrinkling” walk as he tackles the topsy turvy turbulent world leading him to the realization that the human race is messed up. Fr. Koys wrinkles your brain to consider the historical times of the past as he relates it to the times of today to reflect that much has not changed. He contemplates the time of the two popes: Pope Gregory the Tenth and Pope Martin the Fourth. He discusses the historical impact of each of these Popes and how they impacted the Church: one unifying it and the other dividing it. He uses lessons from history to relate to our times today pointing out that we should learn from history and repeat the good and not the bad. He surmises that morals today are basic and should hold fast but unfortunately it is the other way around for many in the church today.

Father offers daily prayer and afterwards turns to the readings of this past Sunday. They chat about the Book of Exodus as the people grumble about their situation. The group recognizes how we, the people of today do that also. Father gently reminding us that we take one day at a time and that we focus on God to get through the struggles of each day.

Koys wrinkles your brain to contemplate this level of association as he references historical references to clarify the fascinating connections. He dives into historical references on Shakespeare, the House of Plantagenet; it’s two branches, House of York and House of Lancaster, as well as the House of Tudor and the war of the Roses. Father greets everyone and discusses the school mass, just completed that included a light, ribbon and awards ceremony. Father recognizes the bittersweet joy given this is the last school award ceremony as the school will close at the end of the academic year. Father discusses the school history and the changes in the area that ultimately led to this outcome. The group agrees that despite the school closing, St Stanislaus Kostka Academy offered a good Catholic based education and the students will take that with them. After break Father offers prayer with the Litany to Our Lady. Father continues discussion regarding the Ascension started yesterday and they comment on the beauty of the mass in celebration of the Feast of the Ascension. Father closes with reading scripture from the Catechism to offer words to help us maintain proper perspective in our faith.

He welcomes author Carrie Gress to discuss her book on the topic titled “Something Wicked: Why Feminism Can’t Be fused with Christianity”. Together they tackle the topic and highlight some of the points made in the book. They touch on the seven elements of feminism and the creation of a shadow church as feminism seems to act as a religion of its own.
