Father happily acknowledges that he has heard those key messages in Pope Leo’s words and is feeling hopeful and inspired.

Welcome to a Brain Wrinkling Wednesday with Fr. Tom Koys. Today Father Koys acknowledges the first day of the conclave, a historic moment. While he does not guess who will be the next Pope nor does he explain how the conclave works, he chooses to focus on talking about what is needed in the office of the Papacy. He also encourages prayer for the Cardinals and that we seek the Holy Spirits guidance for them as they select the next Pope.

Father Anthony leads us in daily prayer as well as offering prayers for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis as well as for the College of Cardinals and the Conclave. The Conclave to select the 267Th Successor to the Chair of Peter is set to begin tomorrow, May 7th. Today, Father Anthony addresses a question posed to him “Why do we pray if God already selected the next Pope?” He begins by discussing the importance and the inner workings of prayer and the Holy Spirit. Father references the Sunday readings and unpacks just how applicable they are for the upcoming conclave.

Lauretta wishes everyone a happy Cinco de Mayo sharing a bit about the history behind this day then turning her focus to Our Lady of Guadalupe. She informs us regarding the apparition that lead to the shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe and unpacks the story, its impact and the symbolism of the Tilma. She also reminds us that we are still in the mourning period for the passing of Pope Francis and that we continue to pray for the repose of his soul. She briefly discusses the conclave and its details along with reminding everyone to pray for the Holy Spirit to be present with the Cardinals and guide their voting, until such times as we see the white smoke and hear the announcement “Habemus Papam”.

Ms. Labotka shares with us the Summer Programming that is available at Saint Stanislaus Kotska Academy. On the show today, Father Anthony focuses on letters of the past that were written to Cardinals in regards to the upcoming Conclave of their times. Interestingly enough, the letters could have been written to our Cardinals today, just in a different vernacular, for they definitely apply. Fr. Anthony along with Christina and Tony chat about this and share their thoughts. Father reminds us that Ms. Barbara Labotka, Principal of Saint Stanislaus Kotska Academy (Pre-School to 8th Grade) will join us on the show tomorrow to discuss the school and its programming.
