Welcome to a Brain Wrinkling Wednesday with Fr. Tom Koys. Today Father Koys intends to offer the listeners “tools” that we Catholics can utilize to convince our Christians friends who are considering Catholicism to go ahead and convert. He approaches this discussion by looking at and addressing the obstacles that the author C.S. Lewis raised as his reasons for not converting to Catholicism. He also speaks regarding the Christian World and the divisions/differences that are identified via the various labels we call denominations.

Fr. Anthony, Tony, and Cristina return live today to talk about the goings on, people in the Parish, and of course to offer up prayers. They discuss current events that are occurring, signaling our need to return to God, leading Father Anthony to renew his call for supporters and donations to donate to the Kostka Kids fund a prominent way for us to evangelize. This fund is available to ensure that families interested in Catholic education for their children are able to acquire it here at St. Stanislaus Kostka Academy, despite their financial means. He also asks us for prayer to ensure that we are able to raise the necessary funds to save our children by being able to fund their catholic education if needed.

Lauretta hosts the program and honors the brave men and women that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedoms. Lauretta encourages us to keep them and their families in our prayers today and to focus on honoring them throughout the day. She reminds us that there are other days to celebrate our country but today our focus is solely on honoring those men and women who lost their lives in service to our great nation. After prayer, Father revisits the question of Atheism and shares history and the evolution of lent and the origin of the word ‘lent” itself. Central focus of Lent is fasting, why is that?

Today we continue to celebrate Habemus Papum: Pope Leo XIV, the 267th Pope to rise to the chair of Peter. Father Anthony turns to LISTENING to Pope Leo’s words, searching for some key messages. Father encourages us to watch and listen to our new Holy Father and through his words and actions we will be able to get a sense of where the Holy Father will guide us and the church. He is demonstrating thus far a focus on returning to the mysticism that we readily need to regain, as many seem to have lost that passion and desire for Christ.

Mary shares her experience in Rome at the conclave and together they chat about the New Pope from Chicago and the many connections that are popping up everywhere. Both Ladies hope that this experience brings more people to the joy that is the Catholic church; inviting people who have left to return, asking curious people to take a closer look hoping for greater believe and peace in the world.
