Father Anthony with Tony, and Cristina gather to discuss the goings on, and people in the Parish. Father mentions the death by suicide of a famous chef and the group chats about celebrities that have recently died by suicide and take note that they seem to have it all, money, success, jet set lives yet clearly something is missing. Father reiterates our need to focus on God to build our lives centered on Him as the world will deceive you and offer you a fleeting life. After Father prays, he turns his focus to St. Bridget of Sweden whose feast day was yesterday. (today was feast day of St. Sharbel). He discusses the history of St. Bridget; her life, her acts, her impact and legacy. Father shares that we need to be honest and speak of the Cross were required to carry as it is a disservice to deny the reality and the challenges that are daily life.

Welcome to a Brain Wrinkling Wednesday with Fr. Tom Koys. Today Father Koys speaks to the turmoil in his mind and elaborates through reference to a book he is reading on Pope Innocent III. He connects his thoughts to the book and to events during the civil war in an effort to enlighten the listener with the ultimate goal being that we see how the balance between Subsidiary and Suzerainty is what we need and what Catholicism gives.
Suzerainty: political term that refers to a relationship where a powerful state has control over the foreign policy and economic relations of a weaker state (vassal), while allowing the vassal some degree of internal autonomy.

Father Anthony with Tony, and Cristina gather to discuss the goings on, and people in the Parish. Today is the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene. After prayer, Father test the group as to what they know regarding St. Mary Magdalene. The group ends up unpacking parts of the gospel that reference Mary to decipher what actions are attributed to Mary Magdalene versus other Marys’ in the bible. By the way, Father fails Cristina and Tony, regardless, they are thankful for the discussion as is Father.

Lauretta hosts the program today and shares that it is the Feast Day of Lawrence of Brindisi and suggests we pray to the saint of the day seeking what we need. She also shares just how amazing the Revival Ministry Conference she attended. Lauretta then welcomes her guests, Ann Brauer Andriacco, member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Seplechure of Jerusalem. Along with her guest, they discuss the bombing in Gaza and then Ann shares the work of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Seplechure of Jerusalem and the great impact they have in the Holy land. They discuss how they play out in our society, in the family structure and upbringing. They shed light on how being raised in a family of faith impacts those generational groups tendencies.

Welcome to a Brain Wrinkling Wednesday with Fr. Tom Koys. Today Father Koys briefly chats about his ideas upon his return from his trip to Medjugorje and Rome. He contemplates his feelings around being in St. Peters Square, thinking back to a time he had a meeting in Rome many years ago, his visit during the service of Pope John Paul II and now with his most recent visit as he waited to see Pope Leo go by in the Pope mobile recognizing the difference in his level of enthusiasm during each of those times. He then turns his focus to the need for Rules and ends with his conversation, if he had the ear of the Pope and the President.

Fr. Anthony and Tony talk about the goings on, and people in the Parish. They reminisce on easier times-simpler times. Father reminds us of what Jesus asked of the disciples and us. We are to live simple lives focused on God. We are to build and maintain a relationship with God and build reliance on Him and Him alone. When we succeed in doing this, when we are able to rely on God and on God alone, we have peace and inner joy.

Lauretta hosts the program today and welcomes two guests: Mary FioRito to discuss life issues and JP Kaplan to promote Pope Leo jerseys to benefit the Catholic Charities. Mary shares a horrible case on an abortion mishap (GRAPHIC DETAILS-not appropriate for young audiences). The case is an example of just how horrible these situations can be and how the need for respect for life is critical. Today Father opens the show sharing sadness over the priest who took his life, which leads the group to chat about priestly life and the many demands and challenges, especially with the changing times where there are much less priests available. Father shares about his challenges day to day and transitions to how every person has challenges, there is no escaping and we need to figure out how to face it. We need to remove focus on self and help others; it is in helping others that we offer healing to them and heal ourselves in the process. In praying and serving others we find healing!
